Marcus Rashford willing to take a cut to snub Aston Villa and join Barcelona

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is willing to take a pay cut to join Barcelona, ready to snub Aston Villa.

According to a report from Sport, Marcus Rashford is ready to reduce his wages to facilitate a move to Barcelona. The Manchester United forward is keen on playing for the Catalan giants and his agents are already at work.

Rashford came up the ranks at Old Trafford and got promoted to their first team at the start of 2016. He went from strength to strength and established himself as a key figure in the team. While he was one of the first names on their team sheet a few seasons back things started to fall apart for the English international towards the end of Erik ten Hag’s time at the club.

The arrival of Ruben Amorim made things even more difficult. The Portuguese manager questioned his commitment and eventually dropped him from the squad. After falling out with Amorim, he ended up parting ways with the club during the last winter window.

While he has only joined Aston Villa on a short-term loan, he is unlikely to play for United again as his relationship with the club isn’t that great. With Amorim still around, he is likely to secure a permanent move and the Red Devils also seem ready to cash in on him.

He has been in great form since joining Unai Emery’s team and they are seriously considering the option of securing his services on a permanent basis. While they do have a buy option, Rashford isn’t really keen on joining them and his wages could also cause problems for Villa.

Rashford pushing to join Barcelona

The English international is ready to snub the Birmingham-based club as he prefers joining Barcelona. The Catalan giants were interested in acquiring his services during the winter window. But they had other priorities and ended up deciding against it.

While they haven’t revived their interest, Hansi Flick and Deco do rate him very highly and can certainly look at him to further bolster their attack if any of their forwards end up leaving. Rashford is willing to do everything in his power to get a deal over the line.

His current deal at United runs until 2028, and he is aware that his wages could pose a problem for Barcelona. As a result, his entourage has already informed the Spanish giants that he is willing to take a significant pay cut. He could even push to lower the transfer fee or secure an initial loan move to facilitate the switch.
