Tottenham eyeing Simone Inzaghi as Ange Postecoglou replacement

Tottenham are interested in appointing Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi as their next manager amidst uncertainty around Ange Postecoglou’s future.

According to Interlive, Tottenham could look to appoint Simone Inzaghi as their new manager. The North London club are not really pleased with Ange Postecoglou’s work and could part ways with the Australian manager this summer. The Inter Milan boss is considered a top target to replace the former Celtic manager.

Inzaghi started his managerial career at Lazio. He went up the ranks and proved himself while managing their first team before making the move to Inter in the summer of 2021. The 49-year-old has done wonders for the Milan-based outfit.

He guided them to the Serie A title last season and they are very much in contention to win the league as well as the Champions League this season. While they have lost some ground in the league and did get knocked out of the Coppa Italia in recent weeks, the 3-3 draw away to Barcelona in the UCL semi-final further enhances his reputation as a manager.

Multiple English clubs have been closely following his work as they consider him an ideal fit for their club. He is a young coach who plays a modern brand of football and certainly has it all to succeed in the Premier League.

Manchester United and Manchester City are not looking for a new manager at this point but Tottenham could be in the market for one this summer. They are interested in Inzaghi and could look to appoint him if they sanction the departure of Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian was quite impressive during his first season at the club but things haven’t gone according to plan for him this time around. While injuries have played a part in their struggles, finishing near the relegation zone isn’t really good enough.

While certain reports suggest winning the Europa League could save his job, it is not really a certainty. They already have a foot in the final having defeated Bodo/Glimt 3-1 in the first leg of the semi-final. But there is still a long way to go.

Tottenham want Inzaghi on their bench

If they do decide to part ways with him, Inzaghi could be an ideal candidate to take over. He is considered to have the most complete and capable profile on the European scene. His style of play is attractive as well as attacking.

With his contract running out in the summer of 2026, they do have a chance of striking a deal for him. While Inter were already holding talks regarding a potential renewal with improved terms and considered it a mere formality, Tottenham’s interest in him could complicate things.

The North London club are reportedly willing to offer him a top manager’s salary which can certainly have an impact on his decision. More importantly, if he ends up winning the league or the UCL at Inter, he could look for a new challenge in the biggest league in the world.
