As per Voetbal International, Dirk Proper (23) has been discharged from hospital after the serious concussion he sustained in the Eredivisie match against Willem II.
Things went wrong for the NEC midfielder last Saturday in the last few minutes of the first half. He collided horribly with teammate Koki Ogawa, and had to be treated on the field as the sideline medics scrambled, before leaving play on a stretcher.
The clash was so serious that referee Danny Makkelie had to console NEC’s visibly shaken Iván Márquez. The midfielder received attention first behind a wall of players, and then a medical sheet.
After the match, NEC reported that Proper’s condition was improving, although he had had a tough night in the hospital. The Dutch youth international is now back home and will focus on his recovery.
NEC play three more matches this season, away against Ajax, and at home against NAC Breda, before the campaign is concluded with a visit to Heracles Almelo.
