These terrible images have shocked many across Spain, and also the world. But the good news is that there are no serious injuries reported, with Catalunya Radio (via Diario AS) stating that 13 people have been affected, but their injuries are also minor.
According to the information included in the report, the incident was caused by a female driver unintentionally running over a girl. And after the car was pelted with objects from people who believed that the incident was pre-meditated, the driver accidentally pressed on the accelerator, which led to more people being hit.
Upon learning of the incident, referee César Soto Grado stopped proceedings in order to discover its extent, but with the following message being played over the speakers, the match continued.
“Attention: we inform that the run over that occurred outside the stadium is under control and without serious injuries.”
It is a relief to hear that those affected by the incident have not suffered any serious injuries, as given its nature, it could have been much worse. Those with injuries should be able to make full recoveries in the coming days.
