Prosecution requests €100,000 fine and 8 month suspended prison sentence for Wissam Ben Yedder

On Wednesday, Wissam Ben Yedder (34) was on trial after being accused of psychological violence by his wife (the two are currently in the process of divorcing).

As per information from L’Équipe, the prosecution are requesting a €100,000 fine and an eight-month suspended prison sentence for the former France international. Ben Yedder has denied these claims, and his lawyers have argued for an acquittal. The court has adjourned until the 3rd of September, when the final decision will be made.

In November, Ben Yedder was sentenced to a two-year suspended prison sentence for sexual assault while intoxicated. However, the footballer is appealing the court’s decision.

Despite the ongoing proceedings, clubs in Europe had shown interest in the player, and he was linked with moves to Montpellier HSC and Italian club Venezia. In March, the former AS Monaco player joined Iranian side Sepahan SC on a deal lasting until the end of the season, but with an option to extend for multiple years.
