According to L’Interista, Simone Inzaghi’s future will be decided based on the talks between the Italian manager and Inter Milan. Those conversations are likely to take place after the Champions League Final, which journalist Fabrizio Biasin expects to go well and he feels the 49-year-old manager will stay at the San Siro.
Simone Inzaghi will be gutted at losing the Serie A title to Napoli in the last few days, as Inter Milan certainly squandered a chance to catch hold of Antonio Conte’s men. The league was effectively lost on the final game of the season, although the 49-year-old manager still has a big Champions League final to look forward to.
There have been a lot of clubs showing an interest in the manager who lifted the Serie A title with Inter Milan last season as well as taking them into two Champions League Finals. Tottenham are one of those interested, with the Spurs hierarchy considering the 49-year-old manager as one of the big options to replace Ange Postecoglou, should they sack the Australian manager.
As of Sunday, there have been a lot of chatter about Al-Hilal wanting Inzagi to become their new manager and replace Jorge Jesus at the helm. Fabrizio Romano’s post on X carried quotes from Inzaghi, which effectively suggested the 49-year-old manager was not thinking about leaving the club at the moment and only wanted to focus on the Champions League Final.
Inzaghi also mentioned that he will hold talks with Inter Milan in the summer to find out what the club thinks about his future. Now, journalist Fabrizio Biasin reiterated that those talks will take place, but from his comments, he seemed confident that the 49-year-old manager will stay on as Inter Milan’s manager beyond the summer, which would represent a blow for interested clubs like Tottenham.
Biasin said, “Do I still think about whether Inzaghi’s future is worth evaluating and Allegri is the first alternative? Yes, but I find everything normal. At the moment he has no agreement with any club. Many suitors, not only in Saudi Arabia, clubs also in Europe.
Names? Among others, there is also Tottenham. After the Champions League final, he will meet with Inter to find an agreement to continue together. To talk about normal things like contracts, the market and so on. If they find an agreement, we will move forward together. My feeling is that he will remain the coach of Inter”.
While the entire focus during this saga has been fixated on Inzaghi, the club also needs to answer some questions about the 49-year-old manager’s future. Inzaghi has done a fabulous job since taking over from Antonio Conte, although there are a lot of question marks about his credentials to take the team over the line.
A win in the Champions League final should leave no doubt about his ability to take the team forward, although a defeat to PSG could have consequences. Inter Milan would not oppose the idea of keeping him at the club, although the way this team lost the league as well as if there was another top manager available, they might think about a change.
