HLN reports that Beerschot has completed its first signing ahead of next season, bringing in defender Bas van den Eynden on a three-year contract. The 23-year-old Belgian arrives to bolster the club’s backline, following the loan departure of Omar Fayed.
Van den Eynden, who recently relocated to Antwerp, is no stranger to Beerschot. He came through the youth systems of Westerlo, Beerschot, and KV Mechelen. At Mechelen, he made 17 appearances for the senior team before his contract expired. While open to staying, Van den Eynden was eager to secure his future and found clarity with a return to Beerschot.
“This club has always held a special place in my heart,” he said in a statement. “I had great years here as a youth player, and it’s an honour to come back and now serve as a role model myself. I’m thankful for the chances I got at KV Mechelen, but I’m excited for this new chapter.”
Van den Eynden’s arrival marks a homecoming and a strategic reinforcement for Beerschot, as the club prepares for the upcoming season following their relegation from the Juliper Pro League.
