According to France Football’s Nabil Djellit, Liverpool are closing in on Senegalese teenage talent Sidy Barhama Ndiaye from Diambars FC. The Reds reportedly watched many upcoming African stars at the AFCON at the beginning of the year, and appear to have unearthed a gem in Ndiaye.
Liverpool have managed to garner massive attention in the transfer market for their exploits in the early part of the window. The Merseysiders took full advantage of a mini-window originally designed for CWC-playing clubs, but one that was eventually opened for all.
They barely took any time in signing Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold. They are also in talks to bring Milos Kerkez, while the Reds secured the futures of key duo Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
The biggest coup so far has been the move for Florian Wirtz, after Liverpool agreed on a huge deal with Leverkusen for the German international. While all their work so far has been considered top-notch, the Premier League champions are also working in the background with sales as well as bringing in talents for the future.
For instance, they want to sell plenty of first-team stars, such as Darwin Nunez. However, Liverpool are also keen on making a huge profit on up-and-coming stars like Ben Doak. They are also in the market for young, raw diamonds from unknown leagues, as the club might be closing in on a prodigious talent from Senegal.
Liverpool scouts were present during the Under-17 AFCON earlier this year, and it appears they have unearthed a raw diamond in the process. The Merseysiders could sign young winger Sidy Barhama Ndiaye in the summer for a sum of €1 million from Senegalese side Diambars FC’s youth squad.
The 2009-born African wonderkid, known for his dazzling work in the front line, can operate with either foot and gives clubs like Liverpool the chance to develop him into a top star. Such a big club coming in for him would more or less mean he will be leaving Diambars FC immediately, as he will hope to walk into the footsteps of Merseyside great and compatriot Sadio Mane.
