An up-and-coming member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid secured for himself Man of the Match honours for his performance against Al-Hilal.
The player in question? Gonzalo García.
Real Madrid were of course back in action a short time ago, kicking the Xabi Alonso era into gear in a Club World Cup opener against Saudi outfit Al-Hilal.
The aforementioned Gonzalo, for his part, was afforded a first-ever competitive senior start for the clash, in the absence of the unwell Kylian Mbappé.
And the 21-year-old went on to net Los Blancos’ only goal in Miami.
Laid on courtesy of a brilliant Rodrygo pass during the first-half, Gonzalo made no mistake in slotting home the game’s opener.
Real Madrid, from here, were ultimately pegged back en route to a 1-1 draw, but the evening nevertheless proved one to remember for Real Madrid’s young striker.
So much so that, upon the full-time whistle bringing a close to proceedings at the Hard Rock Stadium, Gonzalo was named Man of the Match.
🚨 Gonzalo is named MOTM.
