La Liga outfit Espanyol have on Thursday announced the signing of a new goalkeeper.
The player to have put pen to paper on terms with the Catalans? Marko Dmitrović.
The situation between the posts at the RCDE Stadium has of course taken its place front and centre in the Spanish media headlines over the last 24 hours.
This comes after Espanyol’s star no,1 Joan García, finally completed his long-rumoured move to city rivals Barcelona.
As much left a considerable hole in the Periquitos’ goalkeeper ranks with a view to next season, with Joan having been a key contributor in the club’s La Liga survival.
As alluded to above, though, it has not taken those behind the scenes at the RCDE Stadium at all long to source the 24-year-old’s replacement.
After he became available as a free agent owing to a relegation clause in his contract terms with Leganés, Espanyol have snapped up Marko Dmitrović.
As per a statement across the club’s social media platforms on Thursday:
‘Marko Dmitrović, new goalkeeper for RCD Espanyol. Welcome to the parakeet family, Marko!’
