Udinese eyeing Callum Doyle swoop, make approach

Serie A club Udinese will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old English defensive prospect Callum Doyle from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Callum Doyle is the subject of interest from Udinese. The Friulians are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit in the summer transfer window by signing a centre-back. So, the 21-year-old Manchester City defensive prospect has emerged as a target for the Serie A outfit.

The Little Zebras have submitted an enquiry to “ask for information” about the Englishman. Manchester City will demand around €15 million to part ways with Doyle in the summer transfer window, having already rejected a bid worth €7.5 million from TSG Hoffenheim. Meanwhile, the price tag poses a problem for Udinese, and the Serie A outfit will face “a complex and potentially very expensive negotiation”.

Who is Callum Doyle?

Callum Doyle is one of several academy graduates who are yet to establish a foothold in the first-team squad at Manchester City. While several highly-rated prodigies have broken into the senior setup, Doyle continues to wait for his breakthrough campaign at the Etihad. Instead, the 21-year-old whizkid spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Norwich City.

The English defensive prospect enjoyed a solid 2024/25 campaign, chipping in with one goal and seven assists in 43 appearances across all competitions. However, as Doyle returns from his loan spell with Norwich City, an adventure in Serie A may be on the cards, with Udinese eager to sign him from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

Serie A adventure beckons?

Udinese’s interest in Callum Doyle is understandable. The Little Zebras are scouring the market for a centre-back coming into the summer transfer window after parting ways with Jaka Bijol. The Slovenian international has joined Leeds United, leaving a gaping hole in the defensive unit at the Serie A club.

So, Doyle has emerged as a viable target for Udinese, with the Serie A outfit approaching Manchester City to “ask for information” about the 21-year-old Englishman. However, the Premier League club’s asking price is causing problems for Udinese, as the Citizens will demand around €15 million.

The Premier League giants have already turned down a bid worth €7.5 million, and they will demand double that to part ways with the English youth international. It will be interesting to see if Udinese will fork out €15 million to sign Doyle from Manchester City.
