Bøving – who can serve as a centre-forward, short striker, and even a winger – counts as an excellent addition to Danish head coach Bo Henriksen’s squad. Mainz have now compensated for the loss of Jonathan Burkardt by signing two flexible attackers in Bøving and Union Berlin’s Benedict Hollerbach.
The Mainz administrative team of Sporting CEO Christian Heidel and sporting director Nico Bungert have also now managed another cost-effective coup. Earlier today, Japanese midfielder Sota Kawasaki was secured on loan at a bargain basement price.
Kawasaki – a €1.5m-valued player – only cost the Palatinate club a €200,000 loan fee.
