Manchester United are looking to reinforce their midfield on a priority basis, and they have their eyes set on Nottingham’s Elliot Anderson. The English midfielder has taken his game to the next level since joining the Tricky Trees, and thanks to his performances, the Red Devils now have him as a top target to bolster their squad.
According to a report from Fichajes, United could end up making an offer of around €100 million to prise him away from Nottingham. While it won’t be that straightforward, the Red Devils do seem quite serious about their pursuit of the youngster.
Anderson came up the ranks at Newcastle United. He got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2022 and had an impressive start to life with the senior side. However, the Magpies were forced to sanction his departure because of PSR concerns, and Nottingham ended up making the most out of it.
They forked out around £40 million to secure his services in the summer of 2024. Over the last 18 months, the 23-year-old midfielder has only gone from strength to strength. His impressive performances have helped him break into the England national team.
So far, he has been involved in 53 matches across competitions and has contributed towards 10 goals. While he prefers playing as a central midfielder, Anderson is capable enough to feature anywhere in midfield as well as attack.
His exceptional abilities, massive potential and versatility are major reasons why some of the biggest clubs are after his signature. While the Tricky Trees have him protected by a long-term deal that runs until 2029, they could still consider cashing in on him if an offer of around £100-120 million arrives.
Manchester United have emerged as a potential destination for the youngster. While there are other top clubs in the mix, the Red Devils are clearly front-runners. They have identified him as a priority target to reinforce Amorim’s midfield.
Sources close to Anderson suggest he would be interested in joining a big club like United. Despite Nottingham’s significant financial demands, United haven’t lost hope just yet. They are ready to try and sign the 23-year-old with an offer of around €100 million.
While the Red Devils want to finalise the deal as soon as possible, it will be interesting to see if they make a move in the winter window or wait until the end of the season.
