Manchester United reject AC Milan swap offer to sign Joshua Zirkzee

AC Milan have failed with a swap proposal to take Manchester United star Joshua Zirkzee ahead of the January transfer window.

According to AS Roma Live, Manchester United have turned down a swap proposal from AC Milan for attacker Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutchman is desperate to leave Old Trafford in the winter transfer window to regain his place in the Netherlands squad, and the Rossoneri tried to offer a player in exchange for the 24-year-old Manchester United ace.

Joshua Zirkzee’s immediate future will be a subject of discussion at Manchester United, with a solution to the Dutchman’s problems being something they might have to sort out. Currently, the former Bologna man is out of favour under Ruben Amorim, but the club are cautious to simply let him leave in January.

With a place in the Netherlands World Cup squad at stake, the forward wants regular minutes at club level, something he is not able to achieve at Manchester united. There are suggestions that the injury to Benjamin Sesko could allow Zirkzee a second chance under Amorim, and should he regain his place in the squad, it could provide a different perspective on his future ahead of January.

Manchester United would be open to letting Joshua Zirkzee leave, provided the right offer lands on their table, as West Ham United are interested, and so are Everton. The Premier League sides can offer the 24-year-old Manchester United ace a run of games and regular minutes to help him regain his form.

However, they are not alone in the mix, as some Serie A clubs are eager to take him back to Italy, with AS Roma and AC Milan among those interested in signing the 24-year-old Dutch attacker. AC Milan, in particular, may have tested a formula and failed, as they could even offer a loan deal with a buy option.

AC Milan fail with swap proposal

AC Milan have reportedly failed with a swap proposal where they offered Santiago Gimenez to Manchester United in an attempt to sign Zirkzee. The Rossoneri are looking at the idea of allowing the Mexican international to depart if they can sign a replacement, with the 24-year-old Manchester United ace seen as a firm contender.

Manchester United may not be interested in Gimenez, which appears to be the primary reason for them to reject Milan’s idea. As for Joshua Zirkzee, he is expected to evaluate proposals on his table before the January window, as any move will accelerate if his situation under Amorim does not change between now and the end of the year.
