Achraf Hakimi has been named African Player of the Year 2025, with the Paris Saint-Germain right-back rewarded for a season that firmly established him among Europe’s elite in his position. The 27-year-old received the award at Wednesday’s CAF ceremony in Rabat, becoming the first Moroccan winner since Mustapha Hadji in 1998.
Hakimi finished ahead of Mohamed Salah, Victor Osimhen and Serhou Guirassy, with the vote decided by the head coaches and captains of Africa’s national teams. Despite a current ankle injury sustained during PSG’s win over Bayern Munich on 4 November, the defender travelled to Morocco for the event, attended by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Gianni Infantino and Walid Regragui.
