Arsenal preparing lucrative contract offer for Mikel Arteta

Arsenal are preparing a lucrative new deal to keep hold of Mikel Arteta and provide support to the Gunners boss to continue leading the project.

According to Football Insider, Mikel Arteta could be handed a new long-term deal on lucrative terms as the Arsenal hierarchy sees him fit to take the project ahead. The Gunners boss has taken the team to the top of the Premier League this season, and there’s a firm belief internally that he is the right man for the job.

Mikel Arteta has not always had it easy going at Arsenal since taking over the side in a rather broken state back in 2019. His immediate impact saw the team lift the FA Cup for a record 14th time in their history, and while that remains the only major trophy under his tenure, there are obvious signs of big progress made with the club.

Arteta is pencilled in to win the Premier League this season after a phenomenal summer window, and even if that does not happen, his future at the club remains safe. Arteta became one of the highest-paid managers in the league, probably only dwarfed by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, as his most recent extension was signed in 2024.

His current deal expires in 2027, with the club not eager to take it until the end before deciding his future. Some recent reports tend to suggest there were some doubts brewing in the background with Arteta, although the overall picture suggests Arsenal and their owners are extremely happy with the Spaniard.

Arsenal had planned to open talks over a new deal with Arteta, and it appears they are ready to accelerate their efforts to keep hold of the manager. The club are ready to offer him a lucrative new contract to ensure Arteta stays at the club for longer, and continues to lead the project.

Is Mikel Arteta the right man for Arsenal?

The new contract will certainly come with a massive pay rise, particularly if Arsenal end up winning the Premier League this season. However, the report also states that the club may not feel there’s another candidate who can do as good a job as Arteta at the current moment.

The new deal will also come with it;’s share of pressure, as it would mean that Arteta may have to deliver more in the future. Should the Spaniard continue to falter or fall short of achieving targets of winning major honours, the club may take a longer-term view in the future, although for now, the Spaniard is set for a lucrative new deal to continue leading this exciting project at the north London giants.
