Milan Not Close to Signing Lewandowski and Thiago Silva

Robert Lewandowski and Thiago Silva have been attached to Milan in the last couple of months, but both pursuits are in their infant stages at best. While some officials might be contemplating those signings, there’s nothing advanced in either at this stage, Matteo Moretto reports (via SOSFanta).

The Pole and Barcelona are mulling whether to continue together. Despite some injury woes, the veteran has been prolific. He surely won’t depart in January. He’ll have options if he leaves Catalunya, and he’ll decide only near the end of the season.

Not everybody in the Milan hierarchy is on the same page about pursuing Lewandowski and Thiago Silva because of their age and the demands of the former. Luka Modric has been thriving, but he took a significant pay cut when he moved to San Siro. The marksman might not be keen on doing the same. Therefore, there’s a lot of ground to cover before his arrival becomes a real possibility.

As for the defender, there have been no official contacts between the parties so far. The Rossoneri would have to reach some sort of agreement with Fluminense. According to O Globo (via 90min), the center-back wants one last run in Europe before going into coaching because his family still resides in London, so he would like to play closer to them.

Our Take on Milan, Lewandowski, and Thiago Silva

While the former isn’t an option for January, it’ll be interesting to see whether they believe they have a real chance to lure him next summer, which would likely prompt them to stand pat or go for just a temporary patch in the next window.
