Jose Bordalas wants Premier League move amid Crystal Palace links

Jose Bordalas would be open to a Premier League switch to further his managerial career, with Crystal Palace linked with a move.

According to The Sun, Crystal Palace target Jose Bordalas would be open to the idea of managing in the Premier League. The Getafe boss is coming to the end of his deal with the Spanish side. He has been linked with Crystal Palace, as the Eagles are sweating on the future of Oliver Glasner, and one other Premier League club are keen on the 61-year-old manager.

Jose Bordalas has never really had a big managerial role in football, as his CV has Getafe as the most games he has taken charge of. Deportivo Alaves and Valencia are also among his previous clubs in La Liga, and the Spanish tactician is now eyeing a big switch to the Premier League.

While Bordalas has done relatively well with his current club, Getafe, despite being handed a modest budget season in and season out, he could be an option for Premier League sides. Crystal Palace were linked with a move for the 61-year-old, as they are sweating over the future of Oliver Glasner.

Crystal Palace have been angling for a new contract for Glasner since the start of the season, but so far, the two parties have not made progress. There is a danger of losing the Austrian tactician at the end of the season when his current deal expires, leading to links with Jose Bordalas.

The report states there is another Premier League side interested in the Getafe manager, although it is Crystal Palace’s name that is prominent in many stories. The South Londoners are also interested in Liam Rosenior, who is now tipped to take over at Chelsea following Enzo Maresca’s sacking.

Will Crystal Palace bring in Jose Bordalas?

Crystal Palace are prioritising an extension for fan-favourite Glasner, and they will only look at new managerial options should the Austrian indicate his desire to leave. The Palace boss certainly has plenty of suitors now, and should he depart, the club could accelerate the pursuit of Bordalas.

Given the 61-year-old Spanish manager’s track record in La Liga, it might prove to be a wise appointment. With Bordalas’s contract expiring in the summer too, Crystal Palace will have a straightforward path towards bringing him, although it will depend on Glasner’s future.
