Al-Ittihad in talks with Mohamed Salah for summer move

Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ittihad are reportedly in talks to sign Liverpool attacking mainstay Mohamed Salah next summer.

Mohamed Salah’s future has been a massive talking point for months. While it has not been long since he committed his future to the club with a new deal, the veteran attacker’s relationship with the club and manager Arne Slot has deteriorated a lot this season.

Clubs in the Middle East dream of having Salah in their ranks, and according to a report from Foot Mercato, Al-Ittihad are looking to make the most out of his current situation. The Saudi Arabian club have already held talks with his camp regarding a potential transfer next summer.

Salah has been a part of the Liverpool setup since the summer of 2017, when they signed him for €39 million. The 33-year-old has only gone from strength to strength over the years, and he has been the leader of their attack for years. The player has helped the club win every major title, and he will go down as one of the best ever to play for the Merseyside club.

The Egyptian international had a blinder of a season last time out, but with his contract running out, his future was not certain. Clubs in the Middle East were ready to break the bank for him, but he eventually decided to pen a new two-year deal at Anfield.

While everyone at the club was pleased to have secured his future, things have not quite worked out for both parties this season. Not only have the results not gone their way, but Salah also has not been at his best, and a rift with the manager even saw him get benched. This is where he started considering an exit.

However, Salah has managed to win back his starting spot since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations. While he seems committed to their project for now, the 33-year-old has not completely forgotten about how things went down towards the end of last year.

Salah is closing in on an exit

The 33-year-old might not have pushed for an exit during the winter window, but he is seriously considering leaving Liverpool next summer. Salah has allowed his representatives to hold talks with prospective suitors.

As per the report, his agents are in talks with Al-Ittihad. The Saudi club want to make him their new face following Karim Benzema’s departure. They are ready to offer him a very lucrative contract, and unlike last summer, Salah is now very open to a move to the Middle East. Al-Ittihad are very light in attack, and bringing in someone of Salah’s calibre could certainly do wonders for them.
