Bayern Munich attacker Michael Olise closes in on three Bundesliga assist records

During a season in which Bayern Munich superstar Harry Kane is expected to smash a Bundesliga scoring record, Kane’s teammate Michael Olise is set to make some history of his own. The French winger’s ability to set up goals has him chasing three separate records.

Olise returns to Bundesliga action this weekend against Eintracht Frankfurt after sitting out last weekend’s Bremen encounter on a yellow card suspension. With an incredible 18 Bundesliga assists registered thus far this season, there are the three records Olise is hunting with 12 matchdays remaining. 

Michael Olise may tie Bayern consecutive assist record

Olise has registered at least one assist in his last six Bundesliga appearances. Should he manage another assist in the Frankfurt match, he will draw level with Thomas Müller (2021/22) and Douglas Costa (2015/16) for most consecutive games with an assist in an FCB tricot. 

Olise on course to smash Thomas Müller’s Bayern record

The German footballing legend reached 21 assists in a single campaign on three occasions (2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22). Olise should prove totally capable of claiming Müller’s record before the season is out. 

Olise zeroes in on all-time Bundesliga record

RB Leipzig’s Emil Forsberg (2016/17) actually holds the all-time Bundesliga record for most assists in a single season with 22. It looks quite feasible that, after eclipsing Müller, Olise will probably overtake Forsberg as well. 

Olise’s thriving across all competitions

In the midst of claiming Get German Football News Man-of-the-Match Honors in a recent Pokal victory over Leipzig, Olise recorded his 27th assist across all competitions this year. To this, Olise has added a total of 13 goals in the league, cup, and Champions league. 

With ten Bundesliga goals, Olise is tied for fifth place in the league goal-scoring race. Harry Kane (26) and Luis Diaz (13) occupy the first and second places. With goals and assists taken into account, Kane (33), Olise (28), and Diaz (26) are also the top three Bundesliga “scorer point” haulers.
