Borussia Dortmund want to keep Niko Kovac as head coach until 2027

Bild reports that Borussia Dortmund will want to keep Niko Kovac as their head coach, despite their recent Champions League failure.

Despite Dortmund crashing out of the Champions League on Wednesday, the higher-ups will continue to back the head coach.

However, die Schwarzgelben want to keep Kovac until the end of his contract at the club, which expires in 2027, after he signed an extension earlier this season.

It is believed that the Croatian is getting the best out of the current squad, which, on paper, is true with the fact that this is one of their best seasons so far since Jürgen Klopp’s time at the club, but at the same time, they have looked far from convincing and have let too many points slip late on and that would be the difference between breathing down Bayern Munich’s neck and their current situation.

Kovac attracts interest from abroad:

The work that the Croatian has done since taking charge has naturally attracted interest from abroad. At various points throughout the season, Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea have all inquired about Kovac’s availability, and with the former two jobs being available in the summer, this could become another topic, especially as a move to England appeals to the Dortmund head coach.
