According to Fichajes, Marc Guiu could get the chance to return to Spain, with at least three La Liga sides vying for his signature. Villarreal, Valencia and Real Sociedad are the teams ready to approach Chelsea for the disgruntled 20-year-old prospect, who is reportedly ready to leave the London outfit.
Marc Guiu has had a frustrating period as a Chelsea player, following the drama of last summer. He had already joined Sunderland on a season-long loan spell and played for the team. The Blues then decided to recall him following Liam Delap’s early-season injury. The return to Stamford Bridge also meant he could not move to another club, although Sunderland were keen to take him again in January.
Former boss Enzo Maresca barely utilised him, and the same has been true under new manager Liam Rosenior. Overall, the former Barcelona prospect has made around 14 appearances across all competitions, with a paltry three goals to show for it, none of which have come in the Premier League.
Chelsea believes he has undeniable talent, and his long-term contract allows them to take a relaxed approach to any decision over his future. Guiu is reportedly ready to leave Chelsea in the summer in search of regular first-team football, with a return to Spain potentially on the cards.
Villarreal are linked with Guiu, while the 20-year-old also has other suitors in Spain, including Valencia and Real Sociedad. Among the three, only Marcelino’s side are likely to offer Champions League football next season, and their competitive squad-building could appeal to a player like Guiu.
Valencia are also desperate to land a top talent on the cheap and could make a loan approach for Guiu. The Mestalla outfit could offer him a strong role in their squad, which may be a priority for the disgruntled 20-year-old prospect.
Real Sociedad, meanwhile, have shown they can develop players while offering regular minutes, and a move to San Sebastián could also appeal to Guiu. Overall, the Chelsea forward may have the option of returning to his homeland, but any deal will depend on what the Blues want in return.
