Milan aren’t too worried about the links between Massimiliano Allegri and Real Madrid. They think that the coach is committed to at least a three-year project. The Rossoneri have more than one foot in the next UEFA Champions League, which will trigger an option in the gaffer’s contract, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays.
At that point, he’ll be tied to them until 2028, with a further clause. His wages will rise from €5M to €6M. While Los Galacticos buying out their next boss can’t be ruled out, the San Siro-based club hasn’t seen any inkling pointing toward an exit.
Milan and Allegri are well aware that next season will be more challenging because of the busier schedule. He and the management will have to find common ground between adding veterans, as the tactician would prefer, and some reasonably-priced youngsters to groom.
According to Corriere della Sera (via Calciomercato), the coach is uber-focused on the season. He hasn’t seriously thought about his future yet. He’ll have a meeting with the brass down the line and ask for a more prominent role in the transfer market.
The Tuscan gaffer would consider leaving only if the outcome of the talks were extremely negative. He’d indeed be an option for Real Madrid at that point. Though he could also just take a sabbatical. His departure would have significant ripple effects on the Rossoneri squad.
The chatter is normal given the previous ties, plus Les Merengues have done well under a boss with his characteristics, but he’s not asking for the moon. His current hierarchy would have to be extremely short-sighted to act in a way to facilitate a divorce.
