Inter have identified the return of Aleksandar Stankovic as the primary solution to replace Hakan Calhanoglu, as the Turkish midfielder edges closer to a summer departure.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are intent on executing the buyback clause included in the deal that saw the 20-year-old join Club Brugge. Inter hold a fixed option to bring the midfielder back to the San Siro for €23m during the 2026 window. While this figure is set to rise to €25m in 2027, the management plans to finalize the operation this year to ensure a good transition in the middle of the park.
The potential sale of Calhanoglu to Galatasaray would provide the necessary capital to fund the Stankovic homecoming. The Serbian is a known entity within the Appiano Gentile, having previously developed under the guidance of Cristian Chivu during their successful stint together with the Primavera.
With Calhanoglu’s future increasingly tied to a move to Turkey, Inter are moving decisively to secure a replacement who already understands the club’s philosophy and tactical demands.
