It has been quite the turnaround for Monaco in 2026. The Principality club were loitering midtable following a poor first-half of the season, however, they are now unbeaten in their last eight games in Ligue 1, and following a 2-0 win over Stade Brestois last weekend, they have now won all of their last five in the league.
It is a run that has Monaco back in European contention. Sébastien Pocognoli’s side are now sixth and for Wout Faes, currently on loan from Leicester City, Monaco can begin to look up the table. “We want to climb up the table, that is clear. We haven’t set ourselves an objective, but we are looking at ourselves first and foremost,” said Faes.
In a press conference attended by Get French Football News, Pocognoli added, “We are coming from a long way back. If we continue our run, we can be ambitious, but our recent past allows us to keep our feet on the ground.”
Next up for Les Monégasques is Olympique Lyonnais, before a meeting with Olympique de Marseille just after the international break.
