Everton eyeing bargain move for Ben White this summer

David Moyes’s Everton are reportedly keen on acquiring the services of Arsenal utility man Ben White on a bargain deal.

Ben White’s future has become an interesting talking point, as the English international has gone down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta. The English international could choose to part ways with Arsenal in search of a more prominent role, and if he does, there certainly won’t be any shortage of interest in his signature.

According to a report from Football Insider, Everton are one of the clubs that are very keen on signing the former Brighton & Hove Albion star. David Moyes wants more quality at the back on a priority basis, and White is seen as an ideal fit for their project.

The Toffees are ready to make a move for the Arsenal full-back this summer. The Merseyside club were keen on his signature during the winter window. While they failed to get a deal over the line during January, Moyes’s team are set to return for his signature ahead of next season.

After making a name for himself at Brighton, Ben White made the move to the North London club in the summer of 2021. The Englishman was a very important part of their setup in the initial years. While he was signed as a centre-back and played his first season in the heart of the defence, Mikel Arteta quickly converted him into a full-back.

Post his debut campaign, the majority of the 28-year-old defender’s appearances have come out wide on the right flank, while he has featured as a centre-back as well as a defensive midfielder at times. Ben White lost his place in the team after a knee injury last season, and he he has been a backup ever since.

Everton ready to offer White a way out of Arsenal

Ben White has only been involved in 20 games this season, racking up less than 1,200 minutes. With his game time on the decline, Everton were ready to prise him midway through the season. But Arsenal did not want to weaken their squad at that point.

While White still has two years left on his deal and an option for another 12 months, he could push for an exit in the summer in search of a starting role elsewhere. Everton are aware of his situation and continues to keep tabs on him.

Moyes wants a new right-back on a priority basis, and White is the main candidate on their wishlist. The ball is certainly in the player’s court, and it will be interesting to see what decision he takes regarding his future. The Gunners could sell him for around £20-25 million, which could be an absolute bargain for the Toffees.
