Chelsea, Manchester United not deterred by Morgan Rogers price

Chelsea and Manchester United are open to paying £100 million to sign 23-year-old English international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Football Insider, Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in Morgan Rogers. The two Premier League giants are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in the summer transfer window. However, Aston Villa’s asking price of £100 million has been a potential detractor in the battle for his services.

The latest report has quashed those suggestions, claiming “interested parties are unlikely to be deterred” by the price tag, with Chelsea and Manchester United ready to break the bank to sign the Englishman in the coming months. Additionally, clubs “are expected to step up their interest” if Rogers secures a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s squad and makes his mark at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

How has Morgan Rogers done at Aston Villa?

Morgan Rogers has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League since joining Aston Villa from Middlesbrough in a deal worth £15 million, including add-ons, in February 2024. The 23-year-old hit the ground running at the West Midlands club, and he has been a pivotal figure for Unai Emery in the last two years.

The English international has been solid in the 2025/26 season thus far, even though his output has reduced in recent weeks. Rogers has scored ten goals and provided seven assists in 44 outings this term. Meanwhile, his exploits have provoked interest from several high-profile Premier League clubs, with Chelsea and Manchester United among his prospective suitors.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Chelsea’s interest in Morgan Rogers is understandable. While the Blues heavily reinforced their offensive unit last summer, Enzo Fernandez’s recent comments have created doubts about his future. While Rogers will not be a like-for-like replacement for the Argentine international, he can take over from him in the no. 10 berth that he has occupied during Liam Rosenior’s tenure as the Chelsea head coach. Additionally, he will bolster their output in the final third.

As for Manchester United, the Red Devils are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window. While Bruno Fernandes occupies Rogers’s primary position, the Englishman’s ability to play on the flanks makes him an appealing target for Manchester United as they prepare to play in four competitions in the 2025/26 season. So, he can share game time with Fernandes, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo.

The report has revealed that Aston Villa will demand around £100 million to part ways with the 23-year-old English international this summer. While the asking price is high, the valuation has not fazed Chelsea and Manchester United.  Additionally, Rogers’s suitors may feel they can land him for less than £100 million if the Villans fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
