Real Madrid, PSG eyeing Bosman move for Mohamed Salah

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen on signing 33-year-old Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah in a Bosman move ahead of the 2026/27 season.

According to a report by Football Insider, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in long-serving Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah. The two European behemoths are keen on bolstering their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window.

The Nagrig-born attacker has announced that he will leave Liverpool after the 2025/26 season, with the Merseyside club ready to terminate his contract as a gesture of goodwill. However, the former Chelsea winger will face a tall order to remain in Europe unless Real Madrid or PSG can secure his services due to the lofty wages he earns at the Merseyside club.

Mohamed Salah and his legendary Liverpool lore

Mohamed Salah has established himself as one of the world’s best players since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in a deal worth €39 million in July 2017. The 33-year-old took no time to make his mark, scoring in his debut appearance for the Merseyside club. Since then, the veteran attacker has become a talismanic figure for Liverpool, winning several individual honours.

Additionally, the 113-cap Egyptian international has been instrumental in Liverpool’s success, helping the Merseyside club win every major honour. Even when the long-serving Liverpool talisman has not been at his best, although he has still scored ten goals and provided nine assists in 34 outings, a tally better than most players. However, his glittering stint at Anfield will end soon.

What next?

Mohamed Salah has recently announced that he will bring the curtains down on his legendary Liverpool spell after the 2025/26 season. The situation has not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid and PSG among his prospective suitors. While widespread reports have suggested that a move to the Saudi Pro League may be on the cards, the two giants want to keep him in Europe.

The 33-year-old has been on Real Madrid’s wishlist for a long time. However, the continued interest is perplexing, as the Merengues usually prefer not to sign players on the wrong side of 30. Nevertheless, if the claims are true, he can be a top-notch addition to the Real Madrid attack, as the relatively slower pace of La Liga will help the Liverpool veteran at this stage of his career.

As for PSG, it is unclear why the Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League holders are keen on signing Salah. Luis Enrique has a stacked offensive unit, and widespread reports have suggested that they have no interest in selling any player this summer. So, there is no space for another new attacker, even someone of Salah’s quality.

Nevertheless, for the 33-year-old Egyptian international to remain in Europe, he can only join a club like Real Madrid or PSG. If not, an adventure in the Saudi Pro League will be on the cards unless he takes a pay cut at his next European club.
