Milan Set to Onboard One Starlet, Give Up for Another

Milan have officially sealed the deal for Andrej Kostic, despite some complaints by part of the Partizan brass, while they are unlikely to continue pursuing André after a rumored bumper offer didn’t suffice to snap him up, Corriere dello Sport relays.

The Rossoneri agreed to a €3M deal, plus a resale clause, with the Serbian side. Their vice president, Pedrag Mijatovic, stated that the sum was too low and that he wasn’t properly informed. However, the turmoil didn’t affect the outcome. The player has taken the medicals and put pen to paper. The 19-year-old has scored 10 goals in league play and will start from the Futuro squad in July.

While Milan were able to acquire Kostic in a hurry, the same didn’t happen for André. Some local reports suggested they improved their bid to €22M for 70 percent of the player’s card. However, the counterparty didn’t confirm it, indicating they stopped haggling with Corinthians after they reneged on their word.

The Rossoneri are always reluctant to participate in bidding wars. Timao’s chairman, Osmar Stabile, didn’t rubber-stamp the transfer, even though the lawyers had already completed the paperwork after an early accord.

Our Take on Milan, Kostic, and André

The latter would have been an interesting coup at those numbers, given his upside and the fact that he’s already well-established, but they will need another midfield only if Luka Modric decides to leave or retire after just one year at San Siro. He hasn’t made the call yet, but it’d be surprising if he did, considering how he has fared this season and that they are going to play in the UEFA Champions League next season.
