There has been uncertainty around Italian football over the last week or so, as the FIGC look for a new manager. Multi-time Serie A winner Antonio Conte would be interested in a return to the Azzurri.
The Napoli manager is one of the candidates on Italy’s shortlist, alongside Max Allegri and Roberto Mancini.
La Gazzetta dello Sport – via CM, report that a move for the Milan manager and the ex-Manchester City boss will likely prove difficult. When it comes to Mancini, there is belief he hasn’t managed at the highest level for many years now.
As for Allegri, he appears keen on staying at the Rossoneri and he made that clear yesterday. Conte, meanwhile, is quite interested on joining the Italian national team. He is observing the situatiton quite closely and the last few weeks of the campaign will likely be important for his future.
Napoli CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis has an excellent relationship with Conte. If the manager is really keen on managing Italy, De Laurentiis is unlikely to hold him back.
