In the wake of a hard-fought quarter-final second leg win at Anfield, Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique notably praised his team’s resilience in adverse conditions. He highlighted that Liverpool came closest to halving the deficit at the start of the second half, when PSG began to defend deeper.
“This is what’s so fantastic about football, we know that they started to take risks, and we started to get chances to see out the match. It ended up happening later than I would have wanted, but we got there in the end.”
The Spaniard was also asked about his continued success against English teams on the European stage. “We haven’t beaten Newcastle in three attempts,” he pointed out. “We managed against the other teams. It’s always a pleasure to come play in England. We have to keep going, we’re very happy to be in the semi-finals.”
