Bayern Munich’s legendary goalkeeper Oliver Kahn has backed France international winger Michael Olise to win the greatest individual prize in world football – the Ballon d’Or – on the back of his stellar sophomore season with Die Rekordmeister. The 24-year-old is currently the most decisive player, without penalties, in Europe’s top 5 leagues with an impressive record of 18 goals and 25 assists.
Bayern Munich are still on course for the treble, with the Bundesliga title all but wrapped up and the club qualified for the DFB-Pokal semi-finals as well as for the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, where they’ll lock horns with title holders Paris Saint-Germain. Olise is also set to play a major part for France’s World Cup push for Didier Deschamps’ final competition in charge of Les Bleus.
Speaking to Sky Sport, Kahn believes that Olise could succeed Ousmane Dembélé as the next best player of the season, if he carries on with his performances. “If you look at his performances in recent weeks, then Michael Olise is definitely on his way to win the Ballon d’Or”, said the former Germany goalkeeper.
