According to a report by Africa Foot, Marseille midfielder Bilal Nadir is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a versatile midfielder ahead of the 2026/27 season.
However, the Whites are not alone in the battle for the Nice-born midfielder, as RC Lens, RC Strasbourg, Stade Rennais, Sevilla, and Villarreal are also keen on signing him from Marseille. Meanwhile, Nadir is mulling over leaving the Ligue 1 club after struggling for regular game time this term.
Bilal Nadir is the latest promising prospect to rise in prominence in the country of his birth. Born in Nice, the youngster spent his formative years in France, spending most of his youth career with OGC Nice before graduating from Marseille’s academy. However, regular starts have eluded the 22-year-old since he broke into the first-team squad.
The Moroccan midfielder has not even completed 1,000 minutes of game time across 28 outings thus far in the 2025/26 season. So, while the Ligue 1 giants have been eager to tie Nadir to a new contract, he is contemplating his long-term future. Meanwhile, the situation has stimulated the interest of several well-known clubs, with Leeds United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature this year.
Leeds United’s interest in Bilal Nadir is understandable. While the West Yorkshire outfit signed several midfielders last summer, Daniel Farke wants more options in the middle of the park to sustain the challenge of remaining in the Premier League season after season. Additionally, Ao Tanaka’s long-term future at Leeds United is uncertain, even though they would prefer to keep him beyond the 2025/26 season.
Several candidates, including Djaoui Cisse, have thus emerged on Leeds United’s wishlist, with Nadir also a viable target. The Marseille midfielder’s ability to reprise any role in the middle of the park adds to his appeal, as Farke prefers utilising versatile midfielders in the centre of the pitch.
However, with several other well-known clubs vying for his signature, Leeds United must intensify the talks to sign the 22-year-old Moroccan midfielder. Nevertheless, a summer move away from Marseille is on the cards for Nadir.
