Aston Villa eyeing Eddie Howe move as Manchester United, Real Madrid chase Unai Emery

Aston Villa could angle a move for Eddie Howe to replace the in-demand Unai Emery should the latter leave Villa Park in the summer.

Unai Emery could be at the centre of a managerial saga in the summer, as Aston Villa could eye a move for under-fire Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe as the Spaniard’s replacement. As per Sports Boom, Howe could be seen as a strong candidate for the role, as his Newcastle United tenure has come under scrutiny.

Many of the top teams around the continent are looking into bringing in new managers, as Unai Emery could find himself at the centre of a big saga. Aston Villa are perfectly happy with the Spaniard and how he has conducted things, while the Basque boss is also satisfied with life in Birmingham.

However, a big opportunity could be difficult to turn down, as there are suggestions Emery could leave Aston Villa should one of the big suitors make an offer. Manchester United, who had briefly considered him to replace Ruben Amorim, are widely expected to keep tabs on the Villa boss as they continue to deliberate a decision over a new man in the dugout.

Michael Carrick has done no harm to his chances so far, but his inexperience at the top level could prove tricky in landing the Old Trafford job. With Champions League football set to return to Manchester United, there’s a feeling they might choose an experienced man in the dugout, such as Emery, while there are other prominent names on their list too.

Real Madrid are a surprise contender for Emery, with Florentino Perez looking to replace interim boss Alvaro Arbeloa in the summer. Jose Mourinho has been seen as a big contender at the moment, and if the Portuguese cannot be signed, then the Villa man could be one of their key targets.

Eddie Howe to Replace Unai Emery at Aston Villa?

Eddie Howe’s time at Newcastle United has come under scrutiny after a below-par season, and recent results have not been going their way. While the Magpies have not considered sacking him, the ownership could make a key decision in the summer, which could see him lose his role at St. James’ Park.

Aston Villa are now considering the idea of bringing Howe in as a replacement for Emery, should the latter end up leaving amid the rising interest. Howe is keen to stay put at St. James’ Park, but fate could take him elsewhere, as Villa Park could be a destination he might ponder about if he were to leave his current role.
