Former Paris FC manager Stéphane Gilli linked with Lorient role

Lorient FC’s search for Olivier Pantaloni’s successor is well underway. Initially, former Southampton and RC Lens manager Will Still was the frontrunner for the role, however, it is reported that AJ Auxerre are also potentially in for the Anglo-Belgian manager.

Speaking on Friday, Lorient president Loic Fery confirmed that the club were looking at different profiles but that they didn’t feel a sense of urgency to replace Pantaloni, who, despite leading Les Merlus to a midtable finish, said that he did not feel the confidence and trust from the hierarchy, hence his decision to opt against extending his deal, which ened at the end of the season.

As well as Still, who remains the priority, Foot Mercato understands, there is interest in other candidates, including former Paris FC manager Stéphane Gilli.

The publication understands that Gilli, who left Paris FC in February and was replaced by Antoine Kombouaré, is one of several backup options being considered.
