Manchester United told to sign Warren Zaire-Emery this summer

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has urged Manchester United to sign PSG midfield sensation Warren Zaire-Emery.

Manchester United have been told to sign Warren Zaire-Emery to reinforce their midfield unit. Frank Leboeuf believes he could be an ideal signing for the Red Devils, who are looking to replace Casemiro ahead of next season.

While speaking to CBS, the former Chelsea defender said via , “Warren Zaire-Emery, he’s a warrior. He’s going to sacrifice himself for the team he plays for. That’s for sure.”

Zaire-Emery has come up the ranks at PSG and has been a part of their first team since the summer of 2022. The 20-year-old has established himself as a key figure in Luis Enrique’s team. He has featured in 53 matches in the 2025/26 season, racking up over 4,000 minutes and has also contributed towards eight goals.

While the Frenchman prefers playing as an eight, he is equally effective as a six and can even feature as a full-back when needed. Zaire-Emery is very comfortable on the ball, excels in keeping the ball under pressure and has great vision.

The French international is set to feature in the Champions League final against Arsenal on Saturday. While he has enjoyed another successful campaign with PSG, Leboeuf has doubts about him, as he wasn’t as effective in the first half of the season.

Leboeuf further added, “Will he be ready? I’m not sure yet. He’s had a strange season. He’s finishing it well, but he struggled for the first six months. Maybe because he was wondering if he should stay or not.”

“I think it would be a great signing for Manchester United, but he will need players around him to succeed. I’m very fond of Michael Carrick and the job he did for Manchester United, and he was playing in the position of Zaire-Emery. So I’m pretty sure he would give him great advice to improve. It could be a great move for him.”

Zaire-Emery could be an ideal replacement for Casemiro

Leboeuf believes a move to Manchester United will be ideal for the 20-year-old, as Michael Carrick’s presence will help him grow as a player. Given his defensive abilities, he could be a great replacement for Casemiro. The youngster could form a very dependable partner with Kobbie Mainoo for the long run.

The Red Devils are expected to make multiple signings in midfield, though they have ruled out a move for Carlos Baleba. Additionally, Manuel Ugarte is likely to be offloaded. They would do well to sign Zaire-Emery alongside another defensive-minded midfielder.

While the 20-year-old could be a great signing for them, securing his services won’t be easy. He is an integral part of the PSG setup, and Enrique is unlikely to sanction his departure. With his contract running until the summer of 2029, Les Parisiens are in a very comfortable position.

A potential transfer might not only happen if the player ends up pushing for a move. As things stand, he does not seem keen on forcing his way out. However, things could change depending on what moves PSG make in the summer.
