Official | AS Roma sign Marseille centre-back Leonardo Balerdi on loan

Serie A side AS Roma have signed Olympique de Marseille centre-back Leonardo Balerdi (27) on loan, both sides have announced. The Giallorossi and OM have reached an agreement on an initial paid €1m loan with a buy option that is set to become mandatory under certain conditions. Balerdi will wear the No. 26 for the Champions League-playing Italian club. Balerdi could make his AS Roma debut on Monday against Lecce.

Balerdi was expected to leave the financially-troubled Phocéens this summer. The Argentine featured 200 times for Marseille, a club that he joined in 2020 – initially on loan – from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund. Balerdi was Marseille’s captain for the past two seasons.
