Chelsea reach agreement to sign Monaco’s Lamine Camara

Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara (22), as per a report from RMC Sport.

Selling Camara was not in Monaco’s plans at the start of the day. On Monday, an agreement was reached between Monaco and Everton for the signing of Folarin Balogun. In the early hours of deadline day, the USMNT forward agreed terms with the Principality club. However, late on Tuesday, Balogun failed a medical, as per RMC Sport.

The Principality club, however, had to make a sale on deadline day. If it is not to be Balogun, then it had to be Camara. An agreement has now been reached between Les Monégasques and Chelsea. The deal, RMC Sport understands, is worth €55m. The Senegal international is set to sign a six-year contract with the option for a further year.

Erik Lira had been lined up as a replacement. However, his non-EU spot in the squad is occupied by none other than Balogun, who failed to finalise a move away from the club on deadline day.
