Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias, the referee charged with overseeing Sunday’s Madrid Derby, is set for an incoming suspension. That’s according to Archivo VAR, who have on Monday provided an insight into the fallout from the high-profile fixture.
The subject of officiating has of course dominated the headlines across Spain over the last 24 hours. This comes after Real Madrid made public their grievances with the level of refereeing displayed in their visit to the Metropolitano.
En route to a 2-1 defeat, Los Blancos were nothing short of adamant that both Cristiano Romero and Lee Kang-in should have seen red for dangerous challenges.
In the end, neither was ultimately sent off, a key factor in the eventual outcome.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from Spain on Monday is anything to go by, then Real Madrid’s anger does not appear to have gone overlooked…

‘Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias delivered one of those unforgettable performances at the Metropolitano, and certainly not in a good way. Four serious errors and two VAR interventions, with two more to be reviewed. The consequences have already been announced: a suspension of at least two matches.’
