As per a report from AFP, an agreement in principle has been reached for the sale of Ligue 2 side FC Nantes. Waldemar Kita had revealed that he had received three bids for the Loire-based club earlier this month. Talks with one of those prospective new owners had been at an advanced stage for several days.
Kita bought Nantes for €10m back in 2007 and had set a €100m asking price for the Loire-based club, who were relegated to Ligue 2 earlier this year. Talks, L’Équipe revealed last week, were very advanced.
AFP now reports that an agreement in principle has been signed between the parties. The identity of the buyers has not been revealed, but have been described merely as “European investors”. It is thought that the consortium now set to purchase Les Canaris is being led by Paulo Tavares, a former agent. Kita’s 19-year stint as manager of Nantes could be about to end.
