Inter Milan eyeing Marco Asensio swoop

Inter Milan are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Marco Asensio, who has been doing wonders at Aston Villa.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Inter Milan are looking to add more firepower to their attack, and they are interested in signing Marco Asensio, who has revived his career since joining Aston Villa on loan during the winter transfer window.

Asensio made a name for himself while playing for Real Madrid. He was a key figure in the team and had a lot of success during his time there. But the Spaniard ended up parting ways with them in the summer of 2023 to join PSG.

Marco Asensio did not really have the best of debut seasons at the French club as he struggled to stay fit and racked up less than 1,500 minutes of first-team action in his 31 outings. While the 29-year-old did contribute towards 12 goals, he did not have the kind of season PSG expected him to have.

He lost prominence in Luis Enrique’s team in his second season at the club, and they eventually decided to let him leave on loan to Aston Villa. The move to the Birmingham-based outfit has certainly worked in the Spanish attacker’s favour as he has been a constant feature for them and has regained his best form.

In his 18 outings for the English club, the Spanish winger has eight goals and an assist. While Aston Villa are considering signing him on a permanent basis, they do not have a purchase clause and will have to once again negotiate with PSG just like any other club.

Marco Asensio is expected to return to his parent club, but he is unlikely to continue there as he is not in Enrique’s plans. With his contract running out in 2026, they are ready to cash in on him and would accept an offer worth around €20 million.

Inter Milan plot a raid on PSG for Asensio

Inter Milan have emerged as a potential destination for the 29-year-old. Simone Inzaghi is looking for more creativity in the middle, and the Italian tactician considers Asensio an ideal fit for his team as he can feature on the right flank as well as a number ten.

The Nerazzurri are seeking a player with vision, creativity, and impact in the final third, qualities the former Real Madrid star has in abundance, making him a perfect fit for Inzaghi’s system. Asensio might prefer a move to Inter as he will get regular game time and will be able to compete for all major titles. However, Villa could cause problems for the Italian club if they do make a move to sign him permanently.
