Jose Mourinho pushing Fenerahce to compete with Arsenal, Liverpool for Jonathan David

Jose Mourinho is pushing Fenerbahce to sign soon-to-be-free agent Jonathan David ahead of some other formidable suitors.

According to Inter-Live, Jonathan David has continued to see his list of suitors grow as Fenerbahce have entered the race in a big way. The Canadian striker is set to leave LOSC Lille as a free agent in the close season, with Jose Mourinho now pushing to sign him ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool.

Jonathan David will be one of the attractive names in the striker market ahead of the summer. The Canadian star has had yet another fulfilling season with LOSC Lille with 36 goals and assists to his name, as many of the top clubs are watching his situation rather closely.

Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs in close contact with his entourage over a potential Bosman move in the summer. Both those English giants are on the lookout for a new striker in the summer and could view the Canadian’s availability on a free transfer as a massive bonus of sorts.

Arsenal and Liverpool are linked with some top names like Alexander Isak, but they could view this addition of David as a big factor in their search. However, his availability on a free transfer does bring a lot of other clubs, with a host of Italian sides like Inter Milan and Juventus keen.

Barcelona were keen, but they are no longer part of the race owing to the player’s economic demands. Reports have stated David is close to joining Inter Milan, but as the story alludes the Nerazzuri’s offer of a five-year deal with a salary of €4.5 million per year may not suffice the player’s demands who wants double that as well as a hefty signing on fee close to €15 million.

Many reports earlier had stated David was keen to make a move to England, although his economic demands might scupper a potential switch to the Premier League. In a twist, Jose Mourinho is now pushing his side Fenerbahce to sign the Canadian, with the Turkish side open to oblige the player’s financial demands.

Should that materialise, it will make the player’s intentions clear, although one cannot rule out the possibility of exploring other offers. The race for the 36 G/A soon-to-be-free agent is still very much on in the market, although the lure of Fenerbahce due to their financial capabilities may hamper the pursuits of other clubs for the striker.
