Inter are through to the Champions League final for the second time in the last four seasons, and president Giuseppe Marotta heaped praise on Simone Inzaghi talking to the press after the return leg (via Mediaset).
“It was an epic game between two great teams. We’re happy to achieve this goal, the credit for which has to be attributed to the coach, the players, and these wonderful fans who pushed us almost physically. We’re honored to play in the final in Munich on May 31st because we deserve it.”
“Inzaghi is the center of our model, supported by the management and the new ownership, which is always present, even though silently. This belongs to everybody, but the main architect is surely the gaffer.”
Marotta went on to compliment the Inter squad.
“I wouldn’t say it performed beyond all expectations. This roster started gaining more awareness when it played in the final in Istanbul. The group has been together for four years. It has acquired self-confidence and chemistry and has been coordinated well by the boss.”
Marotta underlined the growth of Inter in recent years.
“We’re among the top teams in Europe with great merit and determination. It’s what we wanted, and we reached our objective. It’s the best game in my career, considering the rollercoaster of emotions and the adrenaline. It was a commercial for football world-wide.”
The Nerazzurri made it to the Champions League final for the 7th time in their history. Thanks to the new and richer formula, they have already cashed in €132M. They ranked 14th for total revenue at the beginning of the competition, EuroSport informs.
