According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Roberto De Zerbi is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. Fabio Paratici is the driving force behind the North London club’s possible move for the Marseille head coach amid uncertainties surrounding Ange Postecoglou’s long-term future.
Roberto De Zerbi has been one of the most highly-rated managers in the world for over half a decade. The Brescia native was a journeyman in his professional career but could not find a stable footing anywhere before hanging up his boots in 2013. He immediately entered the managerial sphere but passed through four clubs before rising in prominence during his spell with Sassuolo.
The 45-year-old has enjoyed productive stints with Sassuolo, Shakhtar Donetsk, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Marseille, with his spell with the Ligue 1 club promising much in the 2024/25 season. De Zerbi has a decent winning rate of 55.88 per cent with Les Phoceens, losing only nine games thus far.
Meanwhile, De Zerbi’s exploits with his last few clubs have not gone unnoticed, and his stock in the managerial market is as high as ever. So, it is hardly surprising that the Italian tactician has emerged as a target for Totte/nham Hotspur this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Roberto De Zerbi is understandable. The North London outfit will likely dip into the market for a new manager this summer amid uncertainties surrounding Ange Postecoglou’s long-term future. The Australian tactician has overseen a dreadful 2024/25 campaign that will see Tottenham end in the bottom half of the Premier League standings.
Only a win in the UEFA Europa League final later this month can salvage a horrendous 2024/25 campaign. So, it is hardly surprising that several managers, including Simone Inzaghi, have emerged on Tottenham’s radar. However, De Zerbi is also a viable target, with Fabio Paratici driving the North London club’s move for the Marseille head coach.
The Italian transfer guru is closing in on returning to Tottenham as the North London club’s new sporting director, and he wants his compatriot to arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium alongside him. However, it is unclear if the Lilywhites can convince the 45-year-old to end his spell with Marseille after only one season.
