Kevin De Bruyne offers his services to Real Madrid

Kevin De Bruyne has reportedly offered his services to Real Madrid, with the long-serving Manchester City playmaker ready to take a pay cut to seal the deal this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid will have the opportunity to seal a cut-price deal for Kevin De Bruyne in the summer transfer window. The Manchester City playmaker will become a free agent in less than two months when his contract expires. The Belgian international is ready to halve his wages to move to the Santiago Bernabeu in a Bosman move.

The rise and rise of Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne has been one of the best players in the world since joining Manchester City from VfL Wolfsburg in a big-money move in August 2015. The veteran playmaker has come leaps and bounds in the last decade, becoming a pivotal figure for the Premier League bigwigs from the get-go.

The 33-year-old has continued producing high-performance levels despite his recent fitness issues, contributing to 14 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions by finding the back of the net six times and providing eight assists. However, De Bruyne’s spell with Manchester City will end in the summer transfer window, as he will become a free agent on July 1.

The situation has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs across the world, with recent reports linking him with Premier League bigwigs, Saudi Pro League outfits, and MLS teams. However, the Belgian international has offered his services to Real Madrid, proposing to halve his yearly salary from €16 million to €7-8 million.

La Liga adventure beckons?

The reigning La Liga champions have responded favourably to the offer to seal a Bosman deal for Kevin De Bruyne in the summer transfer window. Real Madrid’s stance is somewhat surprising, considering the Spanish club’s policy to invest in young and highly-rated prospects instead of signing players on the wrong side of 30.

However, with Toni Kroos leaving a gaping hole at the Santiago Bernabeu since calling time on his glittering career, De Bruyne can be a short-term solution for Real Madrid. In addition, the opportunity to pay him a yearly salary of only €7-8 million instead of €16 million is appealing.

With Real Madrid responding favourably to De Bruyne’s offer, a Bosman move to the Santiago Bernabeu may be on the cards for the Manchester City playmaker. It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the 33-year-old Belgian international.
