Darwin Nunez has only two likely summer destinations

Liverpool attacker Darwin Nunez looks set for a summer exit, with La Liga and the Saudi Pro League emerging as likely destinations.

Darwin Nunez is living his final months at Liverpool. The Uruguayan international has been linked with a move away for a while now and there is a significant amount of interest in his services. According to a report from Football Insider, Nunez could end up moving to the Saudi Pro League or La Liga.

The 25-year-old striker made a name for himself at Benfica. His sensational rise resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe. Liverpool managed to beat the competition to his signature. They forked out a massive fee to land him at the club back in 2022.

While Nunez has done a decent job, he has not lived up to the expectations that came with his hefty price tag. The arrival of Arne Slot has complicated things for him at Anfield. The South American attacker is no longer a regular starter, and he has only accumulated 1,982 minutes of first-team action across competitions.

Nunez ready to part ways with Liverpool

Darwin Nunez has contributed towards 14 goals but has not been able to convince Slot about handing him a bigger role. The Dutch manager is not entirely pleased with his efforts, and he is keen on bringing in a world-class striker as he looks for an upgrade in that position.

Meanwhile, the lack of game time has frustrated Nunez, who is pushing for a move away. Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal were ready to pay a fortune for him mid-season, but Liverpool stood in his way. The decision did not really go down well with the 25-year-old, who now has his heart set on a move away.

The report suggests he will choose between moving to the Middle East and moving to La Liga. While Al-Hilal could try again in the summer, Atletico Madrid could also prove to be an exciting option for Nunez as it will help him continue at the highest level.

However, the Spanish giants could struggle to meet Liverpool’s high asking price. The Merseyside club want to ensure they recoup a major part of what they had invested to sign him and won’t agree to sell him on the cheap.
