Ruben Amorim set for Manchester United stay despite poor results

Manchester United have no intention of parting ways with Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim despite a run of poor results.

According to a report from Football Insider, Ruben Amorim is expected to continue as Manchester United’s manager next season. Despite the Red Devils’ poor performances in the Premier League, the Portuguese manager is under no pressure to be sacked.

Amorim made a name for himself as a manager thanks to his sensational work at Sporting CP. It resulted in a lot of interest in his services and eventually, Manchester United managed to convince him to take charge of the club towards the end of last year.

He took over from Erik ten Hag who was struggling to get the desired results. While Amorim was brought in to steady the ship mid-way through the season, things have not been that great for him at Old Trafford. They have lost 13 out of their 25 league games under the 40-year-old.

Amorim is going nowhere

While making it to the UEFA Europa League final has helped cover the cracks to an extent, being 16th in the Premier League certainly does not help. Their inconsistent performances have resulted in a lot of talk about the manager’s future.

Manchester United were considering parting ways with Amorim just six months after appointing him. But the report suggests the Red Devils have no such intentions. They consider him to be the ideal candidate to be their long-term manager.

Amorim retains the full backing of the club and is expected to remain in charge next season, even if Manchester United lose the Europa League final to Tottenham and miss out on Champions League qualification. The recent dip in form is largely attributed to the fact that the Portuguese tactician has yet to assemble a squad suited to fully executing his preferred style of play.

The Red Devils are prepared to back Amorim in the upcoming transfer window, with a focus on bringing in players who fit his philosophy and can help steer the club back on course. Manchester United are in no rush and have laid out a long-term plan with the Portuguese manager at the centre of their project.
