According to a report from Tutto Atalanta, Manchester United have reignited their pursuit of Ederson. While the Red Devils were unable to reach an agreement with Atalanta last summer, they remain interested in the midfielder and are prepared to make another attempt when the transfer window reopens.
Ederson has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Serie A outfit in the summer of 2022. Not only has he established himself as a key figure in the team, but the 25-year-old has also managed to secure a place in the Brazil national team on the back of his consistent performances.
His work has not gone unnoticed and multiple top clubs are chasing his signature. Manchester United are one of the clubs that have been keeping a close eye on him for some time now. They have a long-standing interest in him and did make a failed attempt to sign him last summer.
The Red Devils are prepared to return to the market in another attempt to sign the Brazilian international. Their new boss, Ruben Amorim, isn’t entirely pleased with Manuel Ugarte‘s performances in the centre of the park. The £42 million they had spent to sign him from PSG have not really given them the desired results.
While the 24-year-old boasts an excellent work rate and is strong defensively, he is not particularly known for initiating attacks from deep. As a result, Ruben Amorim is targeting a more complete midfield profile and Ederson fits the bill.
With the Portuguese manager giving his approval, Manchester United have already opened talks to sign the Atalanta star. However, securing his services won’t be straightforward. The Red Devils will need to table a significantly improved offer compared to the £42 million they submitted last summer.
Atalanta are in no rush to sell and hold a strong position with Ederson under contract until 2027, and will only consider parting ways if they receive a proposal that truly stands out.
