Manchester United and Liverpool step up move for Viktor Gyokeres as Arsenal close in

Manchester United and Liverpool could still explore a move for Viktor Gyokeres despite the heavy links to Arsenal.

According to Caught Offside, Manchester United and Liverpool are still seen as suitors for Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish striker is being heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, who are the current favourites to land him, although the other two giants could still approach.

Since Ruben Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford, Viktor Gyokeres was seen as one of the players who could follow him to Manchester United. There were links back in the January window, and the way their striker situation has panned out since the Red Devils are still in the mix for the Swede.

Manchester United were optimistic about signing Gyokeres a while back, and it appears they are still in the mix for the striker. Now, Liverpool are also considering exploring a move for the Swede, as Arne Slot wants to replace Darwin Nunez with a new striker.

The Premier League giants are now considering approaches for the Gyokeres to stir the pot prepared for Arsenal. The north Londoners have advanced in the race for the 26-year-old Swedish striker, as new sporting director Andrea Berta has identified him as their top target over other names.

Liverpool have been priced out of a deal for Alexander Isak, with the Newcastle United star earlier considered as their top target. Manchester United are linked with Liam Delap as an option, but Amorim could intervene to push the club to bring his former Sporting CP striker Gyokeres.

Arsenal closing in on Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal are the likeliest to conclude this deal with the striker, as reports have already stated they have made a bumper contract offer to Gyokeres. Berta has been pushing to get this deal done, and it appears, the Gunners are in an advanced stage with the player as well as Sporting CP to find a solution, as a bid could be launched as soon as the Portuguese club finishes their season.

Gyokeres is open to joining Arsenal and Mikel Arteta’s project, which lacks a prolific goalscorer in their ranks. Despite the reported interest from Manchester United and Liverpool, it appears the Gunners have their man, as Amorim and Arne Slot could face disappointments in this particular pursuit.
