Juventus in talks with Chelsea over Renato Veiga move as Blues chase Dean Huijsen

Juventus are pushing to sign Chelsea’s Renato Veiga on a permanent deal, while the Blues are stepping up their pursuit of Dean Huijsen.

According to a report from TuttoSport, Juventus are keen on retaining the services of Renato Veiga. They are plotting a move to sign him permanently and are already in talks with Chelsea. His future could depend on the Blues’ pursuit of former Juventus sensation Dean Huijsen.

On the back of his impressive performances for FC Basel, Chelsea signed Veiga in the summer of 2024. His massive potential was one of the reasons why the Blues forked out a significant fee. Unfortunately, the Portuguese international failed to establish himself as a key figure in the team.

With him struggling to get enough game time, the London club ended up sanctioning a temporary departure in the winter window. Juventus, who were keen on defensive reinforcements, ended up signing the 21-year-old on a short six-month loan deal.

Juventus pushing to sign Veiga

The move has certainly worked out for the Old Lady as the Portuguese centre-back has been one of their standout performers in the second half of the season. Impressed with his work, the Turin-based outfit are now keen on securing his services permanently.

They are already in talks with the Blues as they look to finalise a deal in the coming weeks. Interestingly, Juventus’ move for Veiga could hinge on Chelsea’s pursuit of Dean Huijsen. The London club want to add more quality to their backline and they consider the Bournemouth sensation an ideal fit for their project.

Huijsen to Chelsea could impact Veiga’s future

The 20-year-old former Juventus centre-back has had an exceptional debut season in the Premier League and multiple top clubs are after his signature. While Liverpool have secured the future of Virgil van Dijk, they are still keen on adding another centre-back and Huijsen is quite high on their wishlist.

Even Arsenal are interested in his signature. While they do have a reliable centre-back partnership of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba, the Gunners could part ways with Jakub Kiwior, making room for the potential signing of Huijsen.

While both Arsenal and Liverpool are keen, they are behind Chelsea in the pecking order at this stage. The Blues will have to trigger his €60 million release clause to add him to their ranks. If they do go ahead with it, Juventus will receive 10% of the fee as they still hold a percentage of his rights.

The funds raised could help Chelsea secure Veiga’s services permanently. Meanwhile, Huijsen’s potential arrival in London might pave the way for the Portuguese centre-back’s permanent departure. Since Veiga’s contract there runs until 2031, Juventus could look to secure his services on loan with an obligation to buy depending on certain conditions.
